2021 OrgChart Year in Review:
It was a big year of organisational change for many companies across the globe. Reorgs, recruiting pushes and managing remote or hybrid workforces were new and urgent needs as the economy corrected itself from the turmoil of 2020. As a workplace management tool, our software was more often than not on the frontlines.
The Great Resignation was possibly the biggest issue facing HR departments with record numbers of employees voluntarily leaving their posts. The second was the emergence of the hybrid workplace model and how that would be integrated into the operations of companies. So how did OrgChart evolve this year to help meet the new challenges HR leaders faced in 2021?
Collaborative Planning Enhancements
We all learned new ways to collaborate differently in the past two years. At the same time, strategizing and planning was never more important during this time of dramatic change. OrgChart’s timely release of Collaborative Planning made it easier for company stakeholders to make and track changes of their organisations.
Clear visual representations of before and after scenarios, real-time modeling containing key HR data changes and detailed activity tracking are all useful features of the software. Especially crucial when teams are no longer sitting in a boardroom together but dispersed across locations and even time zones.
Some key improvements that were made to the module following customer feedback in 2021 were:
Move Out – indicate clearly when an employee is transferred outside the scope of a plan.
Auto-Calculation of Metrics – Metrics intelligently recalculate themselves when needed.
Manager Rollup Handling – When suppressing or moving a manager, decisions can be made on what should happen with their subordinates.

Point in Time
In regulated industries—such as banks, pharmaceutical and educational organisations—there is often a need to produce a chart for a specific point in time. Our clients are quickly able to pull up versions of their org charts of a requested date within minutes using OrgChart Now’s Point In Time feature. Creating and maintaining org charts with OrgChart has the advantage of being able to save historical data in a readily retrievable form for audits and other regulatory controls. In 2021 we refined the experience by adding the Point in Time module to the Mode Switcher, so that users can easily access and load archived charts.

The UKG Ready product delivers a modern, personalised experience that leverages the power of HR, talent, payroll, and time in a single solution. The platform is targeted to SMB businesses (under 250 employees) increasing efficiency and simplifying compliance. In 2021, our team integrated connection to UKG Ready allowing our clients to be able to access data seamlessly from UKG Ready and automatically create professional org charts to visualise the organisation and be equipped to do workforce planning.

Our mutual clients save hours by not using drawing tools and dealing with the constant updating required when working with an unintegrated, manual solution. When connected to data already maintained in modern HCM systems such as UKG Ready, building org charts is easy. One click automatically refreshes charts in real-time and data driven rules do the work.
